Domains, configurations and saving
Approve the sites where your widget runs, decide which design each one loads, and understand when changes go live.
Three things decide what a visitor sees: the domain the page runs on, the configuration that domain loads, and the moment you save. You manage all three in the configurator's Configurations, Domains and Get code tabs.
Domains
A widget only runs on the domains you approve. Open Domains, select Add domain, type the domain and choose which configuration it loads.
What to type. The domain alone, such as example.com. You can paste
https://example.com/; the admin keeps only the domain. These are refused:
- a path, a query or a port (
example.com/live,example.com:8080); localhost, IP addresses and names without a dot;- wildcards such as
*.example.com.
What it covers. A domain also covers every subdomain:
| You add | The widget runs on |
|---|---|
example.com | example.com, www.example.com, scores.example.com and any other subdomain |
scores.example.com | scores.example.com and its subdomains, but not example.com or www.example.com |
www. is ignored when you add a domain: www.example.com is saved as
example.com.
Status. A new domain is approved at once and shows Ready to install. If a domain shows Pending or Blocked, contact support: only SoccersAPI can change a blocked domain.
Limits. Free and Starter include 1 domain, Pro 3 and Ultra 10. At the limit the tab shows Domain limit reached and Upgrade plan. A domain cannot be renamed: delete it and add the new one. Deleting a domain stops the widget on that site at once, and the admin does not ask for confirmation.
Configurations
A configuration is a saved design with its settings: the widget, its look, its tabs, its language and the features of your plan.
- Every account has a Default / current configuration. It is the one every domain loads unless you assign another one.
- On Starter and above you can keep more configurations, for example a different design or language per site. Create one with New in the Configurations tab, then Save as new. Duplicate copies one.
- The Configuration menu at the top of the editor chooses which configuration you are editing.
Each domain loads exactly one configuration. Choose it in the Configuration column of the Domains tab, or with Apply to at the top of the editor while you are editing that configuration. The change applies on the next page load, without saving anything else.
Deleting a configuration moves the domains that used it back to Default / current.
Saving is what goes live
There is no separate publish step. The main button at the top of the editor saves and applies at the same time:
- Save and apply, while you edit Default / current, updates every domain that has no other configuration assigned. You need at least one domain before you can use it.
- Save configuration, while you edit another configuration, updates the domains assigned to it.
A saved configuration that no domain uses is stored but not shown anywhere.
The status next to the menu tells you where you are: Configuration saved, Unsaved changes or Not saved yet. Reload saved throws away unsaved edits and reloads the saved version.
When visitors see it. Within about 30 seconds of saving, on their next page load. Pages that are already open do not change until they are reloaded. Changes to a domain's assignment or to Dynamic Pages apply on the next load.
Installation code
Get code shows the code for the domain you choose under Install on domain, with the configuration it loads. If you have unsaved changes, it offers Save and copy instead of showing the code. The code does not name the configuration, so you can change a domain's configuration later without touching your site. See Add the widget to your site.
Traffic
Check installation traffic, under the code, opens Widgets › Traffic for that domain. It tells you whether the widget sent requests from the domain this month. That confirms the widget loads there, not that every part of your page looks right.
How views are counted and what happens at the monthly limit is explained in Plans and limits.
