SoccersAPISoccersAPIWidgets V2

Languages

The 22 languages of the widget, how to choose one, right-to-left languages, and which texts are translated.

The widget speaks the same 22 languages as the SoccersAPI data. Its own texts (tabs, labels, match statuses, buttons) are translated in all of them, and team, competition and player names come from the data in the same language.

Plans

Choose the language

There are three ways, and the first one that applies wins:

  1. The visitor's own choice. Visitors can pick a language in the widget's settings (the gear icon in the toolbar). The widget remembers it on your site.
  2. The locale attribute in the installation code, for example locale="es". Get code writes the language of the domain's configuration; you can change it to any code below.
  3. The configuration's language: Locale, in Global behavior in the configurator.

Without any of them, the widget is in English.

The 22 languages

Use the code from the locale column. The codes in the last column are accepted too.

  • A code with a region, such as fa-IR or pt-BR, uses that language. A code that is not in the table shows the widget in English.
  • Dates use the Gregorian calendar and numbers use the digits 0–9 in every language, so scores and dates read the same as on other sites.

Right-to-left languages

Arabic and Persian display right to left. The whole widget mirrors: the toolbar, the tabs, the match rows, the search, the windows and the floating cards. The date strip keeps the selected day in view, and its arrow keys follow the reading direction.

  • Texts you write yourself, such as offers or banner texts, keep their own reading direction: an English brand name stays left to right inside an Arabic widget.
  • A country's responsible-gambling notice keeps the direction of its language.

Names from the data

Team, competition and player names come from the SoccersAPI data in the widget's language when the data has a translation. Names without one appear as the data provides them, usually in English. If you see a name that is wrong in your language, tell support with the team or competition and the language.

Texts that do not follow the widget language

  • The responsible-gambling notice of a country is legal wording: it is shown in that country's language whatever the widget's language. The general notice, for visitors from countries without their own text, is translated. See Compliance.
  • Your own texts (affiliate link labels, offer texts, banner alt texts, your compliance texts) are shown as you typed them. For a site in several languages, keep one configuration per language and assign each to its domain, or change the locale per page.
