Ticker and events log

A bar of match cards for your site header, a live ticker inside the Livescore, and a compact log of goals, red cards and results.

Three pieces show what is happening in the day's matches without opening the full Livescore:

  • the Ticker widget, a bar of match cards you install on its own, for example in your site's header;
  • the Live ticker inside the Livescore, a strip of the same cards above or below the list of matches;
  • the Events log, a compact panel of goals, red cards, kick-offs, half-times and full-times next to the Livescore, or as a strip.

None of them shows odds, bookmakers or other betting content, so the Ticker widget has no responsible-gambling notice under it (a match it opens shows the notice next to its odds; see Betting content and responsible gambling).

The Ticker widget

Plans

The Ticker widget is a bar of match cards: crest, team name or code, score, and the live minute, the kick-off time or the final result. Live cards have a coloured top edge and a pulsing dot in the bar's title. A flag and the competition name separate the runs of matches of each competition.

Choose Ticker under Widget in the configurator, then install it with entity="ticker":

<ls-soccersapi uid="YOUR_UID" widget-id="YOUR_WIDGET_ID" entity="ticker"></ls-soccersapi>

It loads only what a bar needs: the live matches every 20 seconds while anything is being played (every minute otherwise), and the day's list without odds or statistics every ten minutes. It stops updating while the page is in a background tab; when the page comes back after more than ten minutes, it loads the day's list again at once.

Which matches it shows

  • Matches: Featured leagues (the list in Data, the same one the Livescore uses), All matches of the day, or Reader's favourites (the teams, competitions and matches each visitor follows with the star).
  • Match status: Live, Upcoming and Finished. Live matches come first, then the next kick-offs, then the latest results.
  • Fall back when empty (on by default): when your selection has nothing today, the bar does not stay empty. It first tries the same matches with another status (live, then upcoming, then finished), then every match of the day in the same order, and its title says why, for example "Live now · No featured-league matches today". Off, the bar shows one line that says the selection has nothing today.

Team names on cards switches between short names and team codes (ALB, TOK), which fit more cards. Competition labels shows or hides the flag and competition name. Maximum cards limits the bar (6 to 60, 30 by default).

Auto-scroll

Auto-scroll moves the bar one card every few seconds. It stops while the pointer or the keyboard focus is on the bar, the title has a pause button, and it never moves for visitors who ask their device for reduced motion. Arrows appear at either end on wider screens; on phones visitors swipe.

Events log in the Ticker widget

Plans

With Pro or Ultra, Content can also be Events log (the log as a card, see Events log) or Cards and events (the bar with a strip of the latest events under it). On Starter the Ticker widget shows match cards.

Clicks

Each card opens its match the way your navigation mode says. In a site header, Modal (the default) or Dynamic Pages work best: In-widget content replaces the bar with the match.

Live ticker in the Livescore

Plans

In Live ticker & events log, Live ticker adds a strip Above the feed or Below the feed:

  • Ticker content: Match cards, or Latest events (the events log as one scrolling line).
  • Matches, Match status and Fall back when empty work as in the Ticker widget. By default the strip shows the live matches and, when nothing is being played, the next kick-offs, with a note that says so.
  • Team names on cards: team codes (the default) or short names.
  • Live ticker surface: separate cards, or one joined rail (the default for the Edge layout).
  • Keep ticker visible keeps the strip on screen while visitors scroll.

On the Today and My matches tabs the strip reads the matches the Livescore has already loaded: it costs no extra request. On the Live tab it uses the live matches the Livescore already updates every 20 seconds and only loads the day's list (every ten minutes) for the next kick-offs and the results. On other tabs and days it loads the live matches on its own, the same light request as the Ticker widget.

Events log

Plans

The events log lists, newest first:

  • goals, with the score at that moment and the scorer when the data has one (penalties and own goals are marked);
  • red cards (including a second yellow), and yellow cards if you ask for them;
  • missed penalties;
  • kick-off, half-time and full-time, with the score;
  • postponed, abandoned, suspended or cancelled matches.

It starts filled with the day so far, then adds what happens while the page is open, every time the Livescore updates. The day is the one of the widget's time zone (or of the time zone the visitor chose in the widget): at its midnight the log starts again with the new day. A new line is highlighted for a few seconds, and the match's card in the ticker shows a short Goal or Red label for a minute. When the score changes before the goal itself arrives, the log shows Score change with the new score and replaces it as soon as the goal comes in; if the goal is cancelled (VAR), the line goes away.

Each line opens its match the way your navigation mode says.

Where it sits

Events log places it:

  • Side card · right or Side card · left of the list of matches, on widgets 880 px wide or more. It stays in view while visitors scroll. In right-to-left languages the sides are mirrored. On narrower widgets and on phones the card becomes one line under the toolbar with the latest event and a Log button that opens the full log from the bottom of the screen, with the number of new events since it was last opened. The page behind it does not scroll while it is open.
  • Strip above the feed or Strip below the feed: one scrolling line.

What it shows and how

  • Events: Goals, red cards and results (the default), Goals and cards, Goals only, or Everything (with yellow cards).
  • Log matches: all matches, your featured leagues or each reader's favourites.
  • Log style: Crests and icons, or Text only (a short tag instead of the icon).
  • Log order (side card): one Timeline across matches, or grouped By match. Visitors can switch in the card.

Accessibility

The list is not read out as it changes. Screen readers hear new goals, red cards and postponements once, in one short message per update. Highlights and the live dot do not animate for visitors who ask for reduced motion.
